Children are encouraged to clean up as it encourages the children to take responsibility, encourage social interactions, develops their self-help skills etc. Clean up song is played and this makes their job fun. 09:30singing time. Singing time begins with Karakia. Children learn songs in different languages; sing along with the music etc. Children experience an environment where they develop verbal communication skills for a range of purposes. Communication Goal 2.
09:45Morning Teatime. Children are encouraged to wash their hands and help the younger kids. Children experience an environment where their health is promoted. Well being Goal 1.
10:00Free Play (Child initiated play both inside and outside) activities are set up focussing on the interests of individual children and also group interests and the children’s contribution is valued. Children experience an environment where their play is valued as meaningful learning and the importance of spontaneous play is recognised. Exploration Goal 1
11:45First Lunchtime. Babies and toddlers are encouraged to wash their hands and eat their lunches. Children are encouraged to eat sandwiches first.
11:45Storytime for older kids. Children experience an environment where they experience stories and symbols of their own and other cultures. Communication Goal 3.
12:00Sleep time for the babies and toddlers while the Flying Kiwis are encouraged to wash their hands and eat their lunch. Children develop self-help and self-care skills for eating, drinking etc and they experience an environment where their health is promoted. Well being Goal 1
12:00Second lunchtime. Older kids are encouraged to wash their hands and eat their lunches. Children are encouraged to pray and thank God before they start eating their lunch. Staff encourage the children to eat sandwiches first.
12:30Transition to school time. Children are encouraged to take part in formal and informal activities which will help the child to extend their Literacy and Numeracy skills and also prepare them to ease into the primary school environment. Children experience an environment where they develop verbal communication skills for a range of purposes. Communication Goal 2.
